Nighttime had fallen over the darkened castle that stood, hidden from the Muggle world. Stars shined over this castle and the full moon glowed brightly in the dark navy sky. Owls hooted and crickets chirped. Werewolves howled and nighttime creatures prowled around in the dark. The castle was the one and only Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and all its inhabitants were asleep, dreaming of horrible nightmares about Death Eaters or lovely and pleasant dreams. Well, most of them were.
Kevin Willis, the Gryffindor fifth year, was bored that night as he laid in bed. He needed something exciting to do, something fun and exciting to do. Kevin didn’t feel like sleeping. It just didn’t interest him at the time. Kevin glanced at his watch. '12:30' it read. Well, he could go sneaking around the empty corridors to find some adventure. Maybe he should. Maybe he shouldn't. What if he got caught? But what if he didn't? If he did, he would get points taken off and a dreadful detention. If he didn’t, he would get a wonderful adventure exploring the night and he would get away with it. It took a while for him to decide, but Kevin had made his decision.
About thirty or forty minutes later, Kevin was out in the shadowy corridors, holding a bright lantern to guide his way. Every now in then, he would jump and turn around if he heard something, but he would always discover it was nothing at all but something hitting a window pane or a rat crossing the corridor floor. Very soon, he found out this exploring at night wasn’t so great at all. A little fright here, a little terror there, but nothing really happened. Kevin partially wished he was still back in bed, relaxed and sleeping, instead of walking through the corridor with a fearful look in his eyes. But Kevin continued to go through the corridor. He didn't know this, but he was walking through the dark, creepy Forbidden Corridor on the third floor during this very night.
